Today I feel very proud to be (an) Indian. It is a day when the Indian tricolor landed on the moon, making India only the 6th country in the world to accomplish that feat. Many across the globe have criticized the Indian moon mission. Noting that half the country's population lives below the poverty line, critics contend that the extensive funding for the space program could be better used for dealing with India's problems here on earth, rather than unnecessarily accelerating its moon landing timetable. Some say that the U.S. and other countries reached the moon decades ago, so this isn't really a great achievement. However, as a result of this accomplishment, the excellence of the Indian Space Agency is known across the globe.
