Default the past through another gate

Please help me understand the following in bold.

    1. The future is the past through another gate.

There is no more context. I'm not sure what the above means.

    2. Schultz's vision for Starbucks, the reinvention of the American coffee experience, was realized by his approach: to create a following for a brand image that blended Euro-style coffee drinking with diverse American lifestyles, tastes, and needs. The Starbucks strategy and resulting brand, in essence, blended its offering as masterfully as Starbucks blended its coffee beans and flavors.

    Thank you.

The Starbucks strategy and resulting brand, in essence, blended its offering as masterfully as Starbucks blended its coffee beans and flavors. It assessed what would succeed to meet its proposed requirements and then set out to blend these elements to offer the experience they wanted to promote.

    Thank you.

    1. The future is the past through another gate.

The correct quotation is "The future is the past returning through another gate" [Arnold H.Glasow]

A nice variation on the tired aphorism, "History repeats itself."
