"Help me to improve my English" :) - Kat's questions

    Hello everyone,

As my frequent questions raised in the ESL forum, I'm gonna leave those here so that I can trace them back easily, and also that gives better look to this forum.
    Thanks for your help :)

Would you like to explain to me what difference is between "Trade" and "Commerce" ? Thanks!

"Commerce" is higher up the Ladder of Abstraction than "trade".

    Dear teachers,

I see the explanation of " What makes someone tick" means the basic motivation of a person. But I do not really understand how to use that phrase. Would you like to explain it and give an example for me?
    Thanks a lot

It's like a clock. You plug it in or wind it up and it ticks. What makes a clock tick is the machinery inside. What makes a person tick is different.

"I can't figure out what makes George tick," means you don't understand what drives him.
