    Biggest or largest

My wife and I had an argument yesterday over a letter in the Guardian newspaper.

I don't have the article to hand, but it contained the line ... 'Britain's biggest university'.
I said it should have read, 'largest'.

Is is just a question of personal preference, or is one word more correct.

    Thanks very much.
