    Joseph Michelli, Ph.D

Regarding the name of "Jospeh Michelli, Ph.D" (author of Humor, Play and Laughter",
does "Ph.D" refer to the degree title or is just part of his name?
If it's part of his name,
    what does Ph.D stand for?

It's a degree and a title. Ph.D. is an abbreviation for Doctor of Philosophy, from Latin philosophae doctor.
