The difference of peppery and chili?

    Hello Everyone,

Both Peppery and chili mean hot? Is there any differences between them?

    Regards

    Sky?

'Peppery' is an adjective and 'chili' is a noun.

And the words both describe different plants. If you want to know the difference between something which tastes peppery and something which tastes of chilli, try eating them both! (Though not both at once!)

I can't have the peppery or chilli food? Could you please offer both?

That is one of the biggest difficulties in learning a foreign language in a native environment!

You can have peppery food - peppery being an adjective describing a relatively hot flavouring which may or may not be based on the use of pepper [the spice].

There is no adjectival form of chili - food flavoured with this plant is usually described as fierce, very hot or hot.

Red and green bell-peppers are not chilis, although also capsicums.
