Pulsars were first discovered in late 1967 by graduate student Jocelyn Bell Burnell as radio sources that blink on and off at a constant frequency. Now we observe the brightest ones at almost every wavelength of light. Pulsars are spinning neutron stars that have jets of particles moving almost at the speed of light streaming out above their magnetic poles. These jets produce very powerful beams of light.

When a star implodes it becomes denser (not heavier).

What point did you not get? That neutron stars are extremely dense? That after a star explodes (nova) that the remaining matter collapses into either a white dwarf, a neutron star or a black hole? That a neutron star is more massive than the sun but takes up much less volume? That a neutron star has an extremely high surface gravity?

Did you read the article about pulsars? Where did you find the thing about hammers?

Astronomy has a language all its own. For example, we don't talk about weight. We talk about mass.

    Hi RonBee
Thank you so much. Could you tell me what is the difference between density and mass? Thanks in advance.
yes I know that stars were created/formed from smoke through succession of life cycles of the stars. A star ends its life cycle by flaring as a Red Giant, if it has a mass as about as the sun or as a supergiant if its mass is more than the sun's. In the former case, a red giant forms a blue star which has a very high temperature which is known as the Planetary Nebula after that it shrinks into a white dwarf. Occasionally, a white dwarf quickens into a red giant then shrinks into a white dwarf again and so on until it ends into the TypeI Supernova. At the end of its life, its material and energy convert into smoke to form a birth of a new star. In the case of a very massive star, it converts into a supergiant then into TypeII Supernova Explosion, to squeeze most of its mass to form a neutron star or comes directly to a black hole. Is there anything runs against my original post?. As for the hammerings or knockings, I have attached sound of one of 'Pulsars'

"This explosion was akin to hitting the neutron star with a gigantic hammer, causing it to ring like a bell" Said Richard Rothschild, an astrophysicist.

Have you ever wondered why gold cannot be made by human beings. The answer is even our sun's energy is not enouh to make gold. Gold as they say is made when two or more neutron stars collide. Only that energy beyond our imagination is able to make gold. Gold is indeed special. This is just to give an impression of the energy produced by neutron stars. I hope, Over the Top, I am right here.

Well according to a documentary I saw our sun is able to make iron but not gold. As I said I am not sure about that but according to the doumentary only neutron stars can make gold ie when there is a collision of two.
