    Generally, “….’s..” can be used with the singular noun. It means possession. For example;
    John’s mother=mother of John
    Dog’s tail = tail of dog
    Generally, “….’….”(not …s’…) can be used with the plural noun containing “s” suffix. For example;
    Boys’ school = school of boys
    Girls’ school = school of girls
    As a contraction, “…’s…” can be used instead of “has” “was” and “is”. For example;
    She’s a teacher. (= She is a teacher.)
    She’s a car. (=She has a car.)
    She’s there yesterday. (=She was there yesterday.)
    Hope that help you.

    thanks a million for the explanation :)

    it makes sence :)

    i have another question...

    based on the example about...

    i know that..

    mary's car.... is right...
    car's door is wrong.. because someone told me so.... (during my school days)
    i think it should be car door

    now, is there any explanation why i can't put 's on some nouns or whatever it is? ... so that i can use it correctly...

    thanks for your patience...

    Generally, "...'s..." can be used with living things. For example;
    Mary's house
    dog's tail
    cat's hair
    "...of...." can be used with non-living things. For example;
    the entrance of the house (not house's entrance)
    the door of the car (not car's door)
