1a. electronics' company = a company owned by electronics
1b. electronic's company = a company owned by an electronic

    2. 'monster' is a noun, and when nouns function as adjectives they don't take -s, so if -s is added it turns 'monster' back into a noun; e.g., monster engine(adjective) => *monsters engine (adjective) => monster's (noun)

5a. your system's performance. (the performance of your system)
5b. your systems' performance. (the performance of many systems)
5c. your system performance. (a kind of performance known as 'system')

    9. I need a headphone jack splitter. (I'm not familiar with that term, sorry)
    10. I need a headphones jack splitter. (same as above)

    10. I need a knife sharpener. (compound noun)

I'll let someone else answer the rest.

    Thanks.

    What do these mean?
    1. This is an electronic product.
    2. This is an electronics product. ( I don't get it. 'electronics' is plural right? And that means devices right? So what does it mean when I say 'electronics product'? If it is wrong, why? 'electronics company' is correct? )

For the adjective for 'electronic', how do I know if it is 'electronic' or 'electronics'?

'Electronics' is this word plural or singular? If it is plural, does it mean 'devices'?

Could someone help me with the post above? Thanks.

The word 'electronic' and 'electronics' is driving me nuts. I don't get how it works.

Are these correct? What do these mean?
    1. I need some electronic gifts.
    2. I need some electronics gifts. ('electronics' is a noun here right? But it isn't wrong though right? What does the sentence mean?)

    3. This is an an electronic keyboard.
    4. This is an an electronics keyboard. (Does it mean a keyboard with eletronic devices?

    http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_18...ectronics.html
    5. The electronic parts of a piece of equipment are fine.
    6. The electronics parts of a piece of equipment are fine.

    7. These electronic devices are fine.
    8. These electronics devices are fine.

    2. 'monster' is a noun, and when nouns function as adjectives they don't take -s, so if -s is added it turns 'monster' back into a noun; e.g., monster engine(adjective) => *monsters engine (adjective) => monster's (noun)
    9. I have a monsters engine. (incorrect. Why? 'mosters' is a noun? That is not okay? Why is #10 okay?))
    10. I have a electronics company. (Why is #9 incorrect and #10 is correct? So 'electronics' is an adective or a noun here? How do you know if 'electronics' doesn't transform back into a noun?)

    9. This is an electronic company. (A company that is electronic)
    10. This is an electronics company.(A company that deals in electronics)
    What do these mean?
    11. We need some eye contact.
    12. We need some eyes contact. (What does this mean? Is it incorrect? If so, why? Is it because 'eyes' is a noun? How come 'electronics company' is right? How do you know when it's right or wrong?)

    2. The ergonomics of this car are good.
