    I have sent a message to Red asking him to help with your problem. (I'm not so sure myself how to do that anymore. )

    1. The article written by Tina moved us--adjective phrase
    ---> Yep. The phrase "written by Tina" modifies "article".

    2. Tessa drew the map on the board--adverb phrase
    ---> Yep.

    3. Missy taught me basic knowledge about painting-adjective ph
    ---> That's right. The phrase "about painting" modifies "knowledge", answering the question, "What kind of knowledge?"

    4. The foreign guest responds through the interpreter-adverb ph
    ---> That's right.

    5. Dancing has become part of their lives-noun ph
    ---> No. Try again.

    6. The father of Filipino Language is Manuel L. Quezon.-adj ph
    ---> That's exactly right, except it should be "of the Filipino language".

    7. The CPU holds the brain of the computer.noun ph
    ---> That's right.

    8. THe power of computers is truly amazing.noun ph
    ---> Right again.

    9. Mrs. Santos appointed her assistant to the president.noun ph
    ---> Yes.

    10. My children who are all studious will take the exams tomorrow.adj
    ---> Yep. (Modifies "children".)

    11. The car in the garage is new. adj ph
    ---> Right again.

    12. The women were cooking for the homeless children.noun ph
    ---> No, that's not right.

    13. The fruits which are all ripe and fresh are on the table.adj ph
    ---> That's right.

    14. The principal appointed Mrs. Santos head teacher of the school.noun ph
    ---> Yes!

    15. Rice has become our staple food noun ph
    ---> Yes!

    16. The poem is very good.adj ph
    ---> Yes, but I don't see how a verb ("is") can be part of an adjectival phrase. (Perhaps your teacher will explain that, eh?)

    Let me know what score we got.

    Dear Ronbee,
    Hello and thanks for the corrections.
    Is no. 5 an adjective phrase because it modifies part? a noun?
    I thought no. 12 is an indirect object (answering "to whom are they cooking?"), so is it an adverbial phrase modfying cooking?
    How about , the women are giving the hungry children bread. Is this now a noun phrase?indirect object? The scores are not yet out

    (Sorry to take so long. I've had a cold.)

    In sentence no. 5 ("Dancing has become part of their lives") the phrase "of their lives" does indeed modify part. In sentence 12 ("The women were cooking for the homeless children") the phrase "for the homeless children" modifies cooking, making it an adverbial phrase. In the sentence, "The women are giving the hungry children bread", the phrase "the hungry children" is both a noun phrase and an indirect object.

    Dear Ronbee,
    Thanks again. Sorry to hear that you caught the virus. My mom also caught it. She's now recuperating. This is so common this time of the year. I also have on and off cough. My dad says it can be allergy to something plus virus. It is so cloudy and windy nowadays. Temperature and humidity are lower than in December. Our nanny thinks that the wind carries allergens and bacteria causing sickness.
    Today is teachers' day. Everybody is given a half day rest. Tomorrow the level 3 students will receive their first communion and we will take our placement tests.
    Our report cards were given out. I am again an "Achiever". Those who get an average of 85 and above with no grades lower than 80 are achievers. Those who get an average of 88 with no grades lower than 85 are second honors and those who are better are the first honor students. My grades were stable except for the computer subject. I got lower marks because i forgot to study typing. My teacher blindfolded us and then let us typed words she said. I got only 4 out of 10 in that portion. Maybe I should study typing more this summer.
    We are going to our grandparents' place for about a week this summer. We will take the plane instead of our van. It will take us around 45 mins to get there by plane. Their place is a coastal town facing the Pacific Ocean. I hope no tsunamis will occur. The thought of tsunamis give me nightmares! All of us are poor swimmers, but the beaches here in the Philippines are so nice--just like in the pictures. Have you heard of Boracay? Search it in the internet. My mom says some of our beaches (like in Palawan) are better than Pattaya in Thailand. It's just that there are many negative things coming out of the newspapers.
    I hope you'll get well soon.

    Thanks. I'm doing better. Thanks for that wonderful letter. I am glad to see you are doing so well in school. Have a good time on your vacation.

    Don't worry about another tsunami happening soon. While they can be very destructive, they are also quite rare.

    Dear Ronbee,
    Hello again. We have been very busy this past few days not because of school work but because of our school's foundation day. This is a much awaited annual event by everybody. Not only because it is work free but also because everybody enjoys. There were rides (carousel, caterpillar etc) and lots of foods, drinks and toys displayed in the booths. During these days, we were allowed to eat as much candies and sweets as we like! Our dentist will get mad, I'm sure. Little children from nursery to level 3 presented different dances in our huge gymn. Parents and guests were tickled pink by the antics of the small children. We also invited guests from public schools and we toured them around our campus. Each one of us was assigned a guest student to entertain and tour around. We call this "Kapatiran", brotherhood in english. Most of the students in public schools in our country belong to the poor and they can not afford the expense of private shools like ours. We were told that facilities in public schools are not good. I hope one day, our country will improve and offer us better education.
    I asked my mom to buy me a pet hamster. Unfortunately, they were sold out by the time we reached the booth. I didn't tell my mom but I bought a small while mouse. I know she will not approve so I told my nanny to keep it for me.

    Dear Ronbee,
    It's back to school again. I have been having problems with identifying simple subjects and predicates in sentences with subordinate and independent clauses.
    For example
    1.Makati parking fees were raised by 30% and this figure was much higher than Ayala's.
    my answers are fees and figure---simple subjets, were raised and was---simple predicate.
    2. An outlawed group who claims to be fighting for a worthy cause is involved in illegal acts.
    group--subject, is involved---predicate. How about who and claims?
    3.2002 is the year of the horse and this symbolizes the jumpstart of progress
    2002/this---subjects, is/symbolizes---predicate
    4.Corruption in the country seems to be so pervasive that even if you are a righteous individual, you will sometimes be corrupted.
    corruption--subject. how about the YOU's? seems (or is it seems to be?)---predicate, How about are and will?
    5. Is there hope for a country if many of its leaders are wallowing in dirty politics?
    Hope---subject. how about leaders? is--predicate, how about are wallowing?

    Please help me as soon as you can. We will submit the answers tomorrow.
    Thanks, Ronbee
