    Default bright light/low key

    Hi

She is Californian in all the ways that you love California, a bright light in a very low key way.

--- I'm not sure about "bright light in a low key way". Sounds like a metaphor.

So, it says that she comes from California and has all the qualities of California, I guess

No, it's not really a metaphor. It's two common expressions:

    - A bright light is a radiant person, a person who shines, who stands out in a good way.

    - Low key means quiet, mellow, soft-spoken, reserved, under-stated.
