    i forgot the name for a sentence that is confusing because you place in most cases the adverb in the wrong place. it makes it so you have two options that could be possible for what the sentence is saying. what is that word called.

    Is ambiguous the word you're looking for? For example, in the sentence below, it's not clear who has the cane. Does Max have the cane or does the man have the cane?

    Max hit the man with a cane. (Adverbial phrase, ambiguous)

    Meaning #1: Max hit with a cane.
    Meaning #2: The man walks with a cane.
