    Default Past Perfect 1

    Dear teachers,

I don't know if I asked this question before but I ask it again because I am still confused.

Would you please tell me if there is a difference in meaning between the following sentences? If any one of them is wrong would you please tell me why?

    a) He did not wait until we had finished our meal.
    b) He did not wait until we finished our meal.
    c) He had not waited until we finished our meal.
    d) Other possibilities?

    Best regards,
    Hela

    Dear teachers,

Sorry to keep bothering you with these sentences but I really need to understand. Sometimes I find it difficult to understand the logic of a language maybe because I'm not logical myself...

Why does the sentence "He had not waited until we finished our meal" is wrong when used on its own, and why is it correct when you add another clause to it:

"He had refused to go until he saw all the pictures; that is why we had to shoot him."
(I'm referring here to Mr Micawber's example)

    Thank you for your patience.
    Hela
