It's costing us a fortune in phone bills.

It's costing us a fortune in phone bills.
The above sentence is an example in a dictionary. There is no context. I wonder what the context might be to use the present progressive tense of the verb cost?

Re: It's costing us a fortune in phone bills.

"We have been trying for two months to get a refund from that hotel we stayed at in Cancun, but it's costing us a fortune in phone bills. I wonder if it will be worth it in the end?"

"Can you please find some sort of long-distance calling plan that we can use?" my boss asked me. "We send over 500 faxes per month, and it's costing us a fortune in phone bills."
