Default two different usages of the verb "have"

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to explain to me the subtle difference in the usage of the verb “have” in the following two sentences?

“The football-players have to train before the big game.” (London)

“I will listen you patiently. You will then allow me to say what I have to say on my part.” (Shaw)

You may depend upon it that in the first case “have” is used as a modal verb, but in the second – as a regular verb.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

    Hi paulmost,

    Thank you for your backing.

I know the answer, but for all that, I cannot account for the sober fact. It is preferable to call a spade a spade.

    Regards,

    V.
