    Usage of 'push sth forward'

Can someone please tell me if the following paragraphs are OK and mean the same?

    1) Originally, it was scheduled to start on the 17th of April. They advanced it to the 10th of April later.
    2) Originally, it was scheduled to start on the 17th of April. They pushed it forward to the 10th of April later.

Also, can I say 'following pairs of sentences' or 'following sets of sentences' instead of 'following paragraphs'? They don't exactly look like paragraphs, do they?
