Default one pair / one pair of ---in these sentences

    Teachers:
Except for the sentence"How much are the shoes ?" ,
I am wondering if the sentences below are correct and natural to native speakers.
1 How much is one pair of shoes?

2 How much does one pair of shoes cost?

3 How much is one pair?

4 How much does one pair cost?

Could you have a look at it for me?
    Thanks for your help!

As a native speaker, I can say they all make perfect sense to me.

    You could also say.........

    "How much for one pair?

All sound perfectly good to me also.

In sentences 1-4 you are talking about a specific pair of shoes. In the "How much are the shoes ?" sentence, it could be one pair, seven pairs, or a whole truckload of shoes.

    Not a teacher.

    Dear WUKEN:

I agree completely with Searching for Language, and only wish to add that it's very common to hear, 'How much is a pair of shoes.' 'A' could be substituted for 'one' in sentences 1-4.

    Best wishes,

    Petra
