    not having touched...

    Hi

    Larry and I arrived back for those sessions. And instead of not having touched an instrument for six months, which would have been a possibility, we were already up to speed and went into those sessions very confidently.

    --- Does it mean that probably they planned not to touch an instrument for six months and it was possible to do, but .....

    Instead of arriving unprepared for those sessions, they were 'up to speed' (that is, well rehearsed). Arriving unprepared was a possibility; they might not have 'touched an instrument for six months'. But in fact they had.
