    entire vs. whole

Is there difference in meaning between the words "entire" and "whole"?
What is the correct way to use each of them?

    Thank you in advance.

Would you have a few example sentences?

The formulas of the previous section allow to calculate the number of charm particles in the entire system. (or whole system).

The formulas derived in this section are based on the thermodynamic parameters of the subsystem without any reference to those of the entire system. (or whole system)

    Thanks.

"entire" for both 1. and 2.

    Note,

    1. The formulas listed in the previous section calculate the number of charm particles in the entire system.

    Thank you very much!

I would be very grateful for an example of correct using of "whole".
