    Default Types Of

    http://dictionary.cambridge.org/defi...2592&dict=CALD

    Are these correct?
    1. Some types of mushroom can be eaten. (Isn't 'mushroom' a count noun? Why isn't it plural? Why doesn't it have a determiner?)
    2. Some types of mushrooms can be eaten.

If both #1 and #2 are correct, what do they mean?

    1. Some types of mushroom can be eaten. (What do you mean by plant species?)
    2. Some types of mushrooms can be eaten. (So this refer to different types of mushrooms? Like I have 3 different types of mushrooms? Is that what it means?)

I stll don't really get the difference in meaning between #1 and #2, could you explain it again?

I thought about this again, does #1 mean this:
    3. Some types of mushrooms can be eaten. (mushrooms=actual mushrooms. I don't get it. So this doesn't refer to plant species?)

    Does #2 mean this:
    4. Some types of mushroom can be eaten. (mushroom=referring to a plant species)

What is the point of using #3 vseus #4 and vice versa.

What do these mean? When do you use 'car' and when do you use 'cars'?

    1. What types of car do you have?
    2. What types of cars do you have?

    1. Some types of mushroom can be eaten.
    2. Some types of mushrooms can be eaten.
In 1. mushroom refers to a plant species.
What do these mean? When do I use 'friend' and when do I use 'friends'?
    3. What kinds of friend do you have? (If this is incorrect, why? The one above is correct?)
    4. What kinds of friends do you have?

'kind of and 'kinds of' are giving me a headache.

    Thanks.
