    Post please check my grammar

    1) I called "X" and "Y" but I could not reach any body. I therefore left message/messages for both.

Is it write to say messages or message in the avobe sentence?

    2) I had to go for driving test twice. I Passed my test when I went second time.

    So Can I say-

I got my driver's licence on/at the second time.

    Thank you.

I called X and Y, but I couldn't reach either one, so I left a message for each.

I got my license on my second attempt.
I got my license the second time I took my driver's test.
