    If it's not a typo for "compliment", then a complement is something which enhances another thing.

    "Her singing is complemented by her dancing."

    "Mint sauce is the perfect complement to roast lamb."

    "Her dress was complemented by her matching shoes and handbag."

    ...........and so on.
