    I have to write a paper on a recent event. I choose to write about my dad's funeral. I am having trouble coming up with a thesis statement. Could you help me with this

    Can you say why you have chosen to write about this? There must be a reason for deciding on this- it could be to capture and preserve the events, feelings and impressions, or something you feel should be said, or should have been said. As it is a recent event, things may be blurry, unreal and confusing and writing may well be a way of trying to organise and bring clarity.

    I'd like to suggest you consider a subject matter not so personal.

    Perhaps you can think of a recent event from the news that has had an impact on your country or yourself.
