    sentence correction

    Sir/Madam,

Would you please tell me that out of the following
two sentences which one is the correct ?

1.Did you brought my book today?
    or
Did you bring my book today?
2.Did you went to see movie yesterday?
    or
Did you go to see movie yesterday?

I'm really confused about the usage of did/didn't.Should we use it with infinitive or past tense verbs?

Did is followd by a present tense verb.

    Re: sentence correction

    You must learn tenses
    Present tense = Do Go
    Past tense = Did go
    Future tense is Will go

    Now
I do go to school is Pr.T
I did go to school is P.T
I will go to school is F.T
    similarly
I do not go to school is Pr.T
I did not go to school is P.T
I will not go to school is F.T
    Is there confusion still?

    Re: sentence correction

    Hi tee

There is a rule in English grammar that says there can be only one tense carrying verb:
    Ex: Does she like cake?

    • Does (present tense); we know this because it has -s
    • like (no tense); we know this because it doesn't have -s: Does she likes cake? There is a rule that says there can be only one tense carrying verb. So, if Does carries present tense, then like cannot carry any tense at all.

Ex: Did she buy a book?

    • Did (past tense); we know this because it has past tense -d.
    • buy (no tense); we know this because there is a rule in English grammar that says there can be only one tense carrying verb. If Did carries the tense, then buy cannot.
