    there is or just is

    Hi,
when the teacher is calling the roll, she/he can ask :
    1 is Rip here?
    2 is Rip there?
    How can we answer?
If I answer myself should I say:
    1 I am here or
    2. here I am ?

If other people answer should they say
    1.Rip is here
    2. Rip is there

    And if I am absent

    1. Rip isn t here
    2. Rip isn t there

    1 is Rip here?
2 is Rip there? (is possible, if you know where Rip should be.)

Paula: Some pupils are in the cafeteria.
    Teacher: Is Rip there?
Paula: She is / isn't there.

If I answer myself should I say:
    1 I am here
    2. here I am

If other people answer should they say
    1.Rip is here
    2. Rip is there (See below)

    And if I am absent

    1. Rip isn t here
    2. Rip isn t there (See below)

I hope, that I could help you.

    Kind regards,
    Dany

when the teacher says "there", you can also answer with "here" of course (assuming the teacher is referring to the place where you are)

    :)
