    Should I say:

    king Ferdinand I of Bourbon

    or

    THE king Ferdinand I of Bourbon

    He was king of Naples

    or

    He was THE king of Naples

    King Ferdinad I of Bourbon - the whole phrase comprises the name of that person.
    He was the king of Naples - king is merely a title here.
