    bring vs bring in

    1) That brings in an element of surprise, doesn't it?
    2) That brings an element of surprise, doesn't it?

Can someone please tell me which of the above sentences sounds more natural?

    It depends on the context.
    1) is OK.
    2) would be better as:
That brings an element of surprise to the film, doesn't it? (Or whatever it brings the surprise to).
