Default in the lurch/has told us we have to leave/whenever/lleave off/meat locker/in a huff

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

Don’t leave me in the lurch.

in the lurch = in a difficult or embarrassing position

He has told us we have to leave the apartment. ( he has notified us ..) ( he has made a vocal notice.. )

We have to pay whenever the goods leave the vendors dock.

    whenever = every time that

Where did I leave off last time?

leave off = stop, cease; also, stop doing or using as in: “Please use a bookmark to show where you left off reading”

Where did we leave off? (Where did we stop talking?)

Sharon's guests, thinking they've gone into the meat locker to have sex, leave in a huff.

meat locker = an appliance, cabinet, or room for storing food or other substances at a low temperature

in a huff = in an offended manner, angrily

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

Except no homes that I've ever been in have their own meat locker. Only large commerical restaurants or food storage or processing plants would have a meat locker. And why anyone would want to have sex in one is another story entirely!

    Hi Barb_D,

You shouldn’t forget that you have the priviledge to live in the USA – “a land of unlimited possibility.”

On the other hand I am only a humble interpreter. Here is the original text:

Well, there you go: When Sharon takes him aside -- into the walk-in meat locker she has in her living room -- to chastise him...

Considering what happens next, you can see the dangers of having a meat locker in your home, can't you?!
