Default get it = catch it = respond to the call

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following excerpt from the Haruki Murakami’s “The wind up bird chronicle”?

"When I was halfway through my beer, the phone started to ring.
“Get it, will you?” I shouted into the darkness of the living room.
“not me.” she said. “You get it.”
    “I don’t want to.”
The phone kept on ringing, stirring up the dust that floated in the darkness. “

get it = catch it = respond to the call

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

'Get it' = respond to the call, we don't use 'catch it' in connection with a phone call.
