    Resolution / Resolutions

    http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles...292&cid=3&pg=3

If these are not correct, why? What do they mean?
    1. DVD and HDTV-ready MPEG-2 decoding up to 1920x1080i resolutions. (How come 'resolutions' is plural?)
    2. DVD and HDTV-ready MPEG-2 decoding up to 1920x1080i resolution. (Is it wrong when it is singular? Why? What does it mean?)

    Thanks.

    Re: Resolution / Resolutions

In this case, the correct way to go is resolution. It indicates a level of resolution a device can achieve. Even in this acception or the others resolution takes, the plural form is acceptable (as in New Year's resolutions) but it's not really applicable in your example.

I have seen a lot of articles that uses this one though. Do you know why?

    Re: Resolution / Resolutions

There can be many different resolutions below that limit. If there are standadr resoluitions up to 1920x1080i, then it can decode a number of things.
