    songwriting/sonic interaction

    Hi

I suppose that "songwriting" can mean both writing lyrics and creating music. If so, how do we know if someone is talking about the former or about the latter. EG: Brian Eno catalysed our songwriting (writing lyrics or creating music?)

    Also:

We were talking about different recording approaches, about ambient recording, in the sense of trying to capture not just the performance but the sonic interaction of the people in the room. I think Brian became very interested in this.

--- I understand that performance refers to the show of the group, but I'm not sure I understand "the sonic interaction of the people in the room" part???

    Re: songwriting/sonic interaction

The songwriter either takes the lyrics and writes the music, or, writes them both. If he only writes the lyrics, he's not the songwriter, just the lyricist, like me!

    Hi

So, "Brian Eno catalysed our songwriting" means that he both improved the way they wrote music and wrote lyrics?
