Can you tell me the difference between "figure up" and "figure out"?
I don't understand why "figure out" is more suitable than "figure up"

    figure up definition | Dictionary.com
    figure out, Informal.
    a. to understand; solve: We couldn't figure out where all the money had gone.
    b. to calculate; compute.
figure up, Informal. to total,to calculate: The bill figures up to exactly $1000.

No. 3 is wrong. Almost all trees follow a similar bilogical pattern. This pattern is controlled by the weather. Trees shed their leaves in the autumn drawing the goodness bank into the trunk, which in turn makes the leaves change colour, in preparation for the winter 'hibernation'. Then in the spring that goodness is there to help the tree flourish, and produce apples as long as the flowers are pollenated.
You could try pointing this out to the originator.

    Your question on happy/happily.
The adjective happy would attach to a noun. In this case happily relates to the verb, to exist. Therefore the adverbial form.

sorry, I made a mistake in sentence 3. I have editted
"such a season", not "such as season"
    SO I think "because"--> "although"

Perhaps that is a lesson well learnt; care in what you type is very important.
I see what you mean, but the sentence is still awkward and has not been given sufficient thought. It is possible that this is just another case of someone setting out to achieve one result without ensuring that the whole is right.

3 Because apples do not grow during the cold season, apple trees must have such a season in order to flourish.

As written, this sentence is back to front. The essence of the seasons is that the trees use winter to prepare for the spring when the growing season starts all over again, not that apples do not grow to help the trees.
Renewal enables growth, not the other way round. Apples cannot grow in the winter because the trees have 'shut down' production. So 'because' is clearly wrong and 'although' is not right either. Therefore:
Trees need a period of rejuvenation so that apples can grow in the summer.

As you can see this is entirely different to No. 3.
The whole sentence has to be reconstructed to make sense.
