    The charm production cross section grows with the collision energy faster than the multiplicity of light hadrons.

    The charm production cross section grows with the collision energy faster than the multiplicity of light hadrons does.




    Which of the two sentences is correct?

    Are the both wrong?

    You don't need the trailing "does", but I got to say that your sentences are not very clear to the layman ;)

    OK! Let's try another example.

    I eat more than my brother.
    I eat more than my brother does.

    Have I undestood correctly that the first sentence is correct and the second one is wrong?

    As far as I know they're both correct, but the second one is formal.
