    Is this sentence correct?
    -I prefer to pronounce smth the way I wrote/mentioned rather than smth

    You have not produced a sentence, so I cannot make a pronouncement. You have used 'the way' correctly, however.

    The sentence could look as follows:
    I prefer to pronounce the word 'direct' the way I wrote/referred to rather than Michael's variant.

    It seems to me that these constructions are synonymous in English, aren't they?

    It's got 'to to', which makes it a bit hard on the ear.

    Yeah, I noticed the sentence had 'to to' while writing it but I could re-write the sentence by taking out the verb 'refer to' and substituting 'write', right? write - right - hm... it's becoming a tradition with me to write such things
