I don't see the need for the subjunctive for the second verb- the first carries the hypothetical element, the second is factual.
I'd take the cigarette and break it in half and stomp it on the ground... Then I'd run.
I'd probably use my shirt as an impromptu gas mask whilst sneaking glares in their direction.
