Can somebody help me correct these sentences?

1) She trip over/on the sidewalk lid and fell down, hurting her arm.
2) Her heels was/got caught in the gutter.
3) My hand was/got caught in between two chairs.

1) She tripped over[STRIKE]/on[/STRIKE] the [STRIKE]sidewalk lid[/STRIKE] kerb and fell down, hurting her arm.

Tripped (past tense) - tripped over (in the UK at least) - no such thing as a sidewalk lid, I think you mean kerb (curb in the USA)

2) Her heel[STRIKE]s[/STRIKE] was/got caught in the gutter.

Heel (singular) - was caught and got caught are both possible.

3) My hand was/got caught (in) between two chairs.

Was caught and got caught are both possible - "in" is not entirely necessary, you can just say "caught between two chairs".

With your was/caught query, it depends what you are trying to describe.

Her heel was caught - this is a description of the scene, her heel is already caught in the gutter.

Her heel got caught - this specifies the actual action of getting her heel caught and suggests that it happened as you were watching.

Ah!!! Yes, I think you're right! If so, I would be inclined to say "She tripped on the manhole cover."
