Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

And, back in the Holliday’s sitting-room, eating a ravenous tea, he felt much like a man recovered from fever.

eating a ravenous tea = devouring tea with ravenous appetite

Yes, you're almost 100% correct.


However, "tea", in this context does not mean a cup of cha or chai. Instead, it is a colloquialism used in some parts of the UK to refer to the main evening meal.
