Hi everyone,

I want to know if the difference pronunciation among "site","sight","side" and "sign". Especially, the pronunciations of "sight" and "site" are really close to each other. Let me give an example: In a recording, the speaker have said that "sight" and I write down a word which is "site" in the blank. Then, I have started to think that it can be also "side" and i am confused. The answer was "sight" nonetheless I write down "site" in answer sheet.

So, do you have any idea and how will I understand which one is the correct?

There is no difference in pronunciation between "site" and "sight". context will tell you which is meant. The sounds of "side" and "sign" are completely different from each other and from "site/sight".

There is also "cite" which is pronounced the same as "site" and "sight."
