Hello all,

"Working in an office, I don’ t get much exercise."
Which of the following is closed to the original sentence?

1.Because I am working in an office, I don’t get much exercise
2.Because I work in an office, I don’t get much exercise

Number 2 is closest. The present simple tells us it's an ongoing activity; the present continuous would say that you are presently at work in the office.

The present continuous does not necessarily mean that the speaker is in the office at the moment of speaking. It could refer to their current employment, which they see as being of limited duration.

I don't think either of the alternatives is closer than the other in meaning to the original

Quite right, of course. Sorry for the misinformation in post #2.
