[Grammar] Regarding the correct use of article.

Sentence: "Now, she has a/the sympathy of her supporters"

My question/doubt: What would be the right article in the above mentioned sentence ? Or there is no need of any article at all before the word sympathy ?

My own sense is article a perhaps wouldn't come unless there is "exception" in countable and non-countable which I don't know of. Article the might come but not sure. Chances of no article seems more but not sure about it also. So you help/tell me. :)

"...she has the sympathy..." is correct.
