It is known that such semantic phenomena as polysemy, homonymy, synonyms, antonyms are undesirable in terminology in various industries. 4) compliance synonymous "full form of the term - short form term»: ampere = A; gross combination weight = GCW.

Where does the starting claim come from? Industries do tend not to use too many synonyms, for instance, but as things are in a constant state of flux, terms change.
