[Grammar] one of the ...... was introduced

"One of the earliest plants domesticated in the Western Hemisphere, manioc was introduced to Europe by Spaniards returning from the New World."

In the statement above, mentioned in a test series, it is claimed that the underlined part is incorrect. I couldn't guess what the problem was. I just guessed that there should be a comma after manioc, but the punctuation is not a must. Is there any other issue in it?

If there is no problem and the test is not valid I'll be grateful if you inform me.

An apostrophe isn't possible there. The test-writer may think "manioc" should be followed by a comma. That's possible but changes the sentence's meaning slightly.

When I replied, the OP said "apostrophe". It has now been corrected to "comma".

After #2, I've corrected #1 and I mentioned the reason underneath.

Then a mod edited furthermore.

That's why a confusion happened.

I've gotten your message though. I shouldn't have edited #1. You're right.
