[General] update you on the progress/get you updated on the progress

A contractor says: I will update you on the construction progress.
I want to know if we can use 'update' like that.

Would it be better to say: I will get you updated on the contruction progress.

"I will update you" is fine and natural.

"I will keep you updated" is OK, but it is a different, ongoing commitment.
