Hi all my good friends.

I wanted to ask about the following questions.

1.He was noted for a strict ................to the rules.

I wanted to know if adhesion or adherence is a correct answer for the above question? Or if we can use both of them?

2.At this stage a resin is used with a high level of ......................
again if adhesion or adherence or both ?

And I have another small question :
in the following question
The tree can grow up to 30 feet.

Does 'grow up to ' means the maximum height is 30 feet?

Thanks in advance.

Please try not to be impatient. Your post came after I'd gone to bed and while other members were sound asleep.

In general, use "adherence" for rules and "adhesion" for the literal sense of "sticky."

And please post your other, unrelated question, in a new thread. Thanks.

1.He was noted for a strict ................to the rules. Adherence
2.At this stage a resin is used with a high level of ...................... Adhesion
According to the Concise Oxford Dictionary, "Adhesion is more common in pysical senses [...], with adherence used in abstract senses".

Too late. Barb beat me to it.

Check your dictionary, post your answers and someone will respond.

And I have another small question :

Thanks to all of you. I really appreciate it.:-D

As for the dictionary, I DID look up the words there and read all the explanations and examples. Did I have my own guess about the answer? I certainly did. I just wanted to be 100 percent sure that it's correct about this exact sentence.
Since if you just search this phrase on Google " Adhesion to the rules" there would be so many example of it being used! So at this stage I think I would have to believe that those sentences weren't quite correct.

Again thanks, and sorry for being impatient!
