Hi!

Is it alright to use is with did sometimes? For example, is "Did you know that his name is James?" grammatically correct?

If it is, is my assumption that it's ok to use "is" with did when talking about universal truths well-founded

"Did you know that his name is James?" is correct, assuming two things:

1: The listener did not know before; it might well be that the speaker just told them.
2: "His" name is James, as it was (presumably) since his birth and as will be (also presumably) until his death.
