future simple for future perfect

"The EPA estimates that by 2005, the United States will generate about 175 million metric tons of solid waste per year."

Could I use here the future perfect "will have genearted"?

I'm wondering if it's possible in AmE? This sentence is from a text-book that we're supposed to learn English from.
