Dear teacher, this is the first time I have ever seen this kind of sentence :shock: Or I just don't remember the others.

This is getting interesting.

1. What tense is it? present progressive? Subject+[is,am,are]+[present participle]

2. Is it just a Subject compliment?
Subject + linking verb+ intransitive verb?+adjective

can you give me an example of other sentence with two v-ings like this?

(1) I THINK (not 100% sure) that many people would agree with

your #2 answer.

(a) Mr. Michael Swan in his famous book says that copular verbs

(linking verbs) are used to talk about change. That gentleman's

examples:

It is becoming colder/ It is growing colder/ The leaves are turning brown/ The leaves are going brown.

(2) I believe that you are correct in analyzing that sentence as:

This (subject) + is getting (linking verb) + interesting (adjective).

(P. S. I think -- think -- that some serious grammarians may say that

there is a missing "to be": This is getting to be interesting.)

You want some more examples. How about:

(a) Would you stop dancing like that? It is becoming disgusting.

(b) Please keep talking. You are sounding more fascinating by the minute.

(c) The experiments to create a vaccine against that disease are

proving very disappointing.

Hopefully, other posters can think of better examples.
