Hello,

I'd like to ask for those help who have any experience in 'teaching' babies.
My son is 4 months old now and I'd like to teach him English but I don't know how to start and how to do it properly. Since it's not my native language I know that I must be very careful.
I'm a graduated teacher but I have no experience in teacing a baby:)
Thanks for any help and support!

What an interesting question, Anita!

I have to say that I'm not sure about the wisdom of trying to do this.

Children become bilingual through hearing two languages spoken all day and every day by parents of different nationalities.

In your case, I can't help feeling that you need to bond with your baby in your own language first.

I can't answer from my own experience, but I've known a few mothers raising children in a non-English culture who have taught their children English from a young age.

They've all done a variety of things but without fail have all gone with song, and when the child can do so, sing-along.

Hope that helps!

For now, just make sure your son is exposed to English as much as possible. Read to him, sing songs, watch English-language TV/movies, listen to music. Speak to him in English.

When he gets a bit older play games with him that involve simple English. Keep speaking English to him throughout.
