Hi there,

The university where I study at is in the first rank among the state universities.
The university where I study at is in the second rank among the state universities.
The university where I study at is in the third rank among the state universities.

Have I used "rank" in the sentences accurately?

Thanks!

Whether "rank" is correct or not depends on what it means. There could be only 1 in each rank, or there could be several.

Thanks! If I delete "where", are my examples right? I actually want to know how to use "rank" in a sentence rather than its meaning. How about the suggestions of Tedmc?

The university where I study at...
'Where' can mean 'at which', so the above can mean 'The university at which I study at', which doesn't sound proper.

Not a teacher.

Thanks for correcting the mistakes, but no body seems to be focusing on the main point, i.e. rank. :)

If I have understood post#3 correctly, 'in the first/second/third rank' should be correct when there are a number of universities in each rank.
Not a teacher.
I actually want to know how to use "rank" in a sentence rather than its meaning.
If you don't know its meaning, how can you use it correctly?
