Hello,

What is the opposite of "downcast"?
I need an adjective to describe a winner who did something important and now he is proud of what he did. But I need a very positive and powerful adjective.

Thanks.

Thanks Tdol. I think "exultant" is more appropriate in my text. I looked "upbeat" up and it says: positive and making you feel that good things will happen OPP downbeat.

I was searching for an adjective that shows the past success, not the future.

Anyway, thank you! I've learned a new word!
I also need your help in "History of Karbala" thread.:)

"Downcast" is only slightly down and I too thought immediately of "upbeat."
I like synonyms Rover gave you in his post, when you said you wanted something powerful, but their opposite is more like "devastated," not merely "downcast."

That was the suggestion I gave, and then deleted. It didn't match the stated requirement for "...a very positive and powerful adjective."

Upbeat is the opposite of downbeat in music. It's one suitable opposite for downcast when describing a mood, but not strong enough to be what you asked for.
